I understand this was a charity auction, but would she have been able to raise more money by selling it to the public, making movies, video games and having all of those proceeds go to charity?

Well, by only selling a very few number of copies, she increased the value by quite a bit. Yes, it’s probable that we’re going to see copies, but aren’t you looking forward to it?! lol
