I need help with my qualifications of going into Princeton or Harvard!?

Question by CutieBear: I need help with my qualifications of going into Princeton or Harvard!?
Hello~
I am a twelve year old girl and my dream has always been that one day I would go to Princeton or Harvard with a scholarship. I am doing reallyyyy well in school and doing quite a bit of extra outside of school activities. I have a few, well, a lot of questions about what I need.

1. I play piano and have been for almost 7 years, but I have been slacking off quite a bit. However, I am planning to really work on this skill because I already have the basics, just need to practice, practice, practice. My question is: How good do I need to for this to be considered a “plus”? Like, what awards, trophies, that kind of thing.

2. I just started playing tennis and really enjoy it. So, I am planning on making this my sport “plus”. I need to know how hard I have to practice and what type of tournements I should win. Also, could you please tell me how long it would take?

3. I really fluent in Chinese, as in I can understand people talking, I can watch Chinese television show/movies, and I can write a lot of things. I plan on using Chinese as one of my SAT(that is possible right?) I also want to know how good I need to be.

4. I also take drama, I was wondering how good I need to be. Do I have to star in a movie for it to be considered a “plus” or could I just say,”Oh, well, I have been in quite a few plays, therefore, I am comfortable talking infront of people.”

5. Does being popular in your school help you get into Princeton or Harvard?

6. What could I do to prove that I have great leadership skills?

7. When I grow older, I plan on getting a job. What job would look good on my application? Like, should I work at abercrombie, hollister or library???

8. When I turn 13, I am going to volunteer at my local library. Would this help?

9. Any tips or advice I could use? Oh, and does being pretty help?(I don’t want to sound self centered or anything, just wondering)

I also have other activities, but I think I am on the right track. For example, I take private art lessons and I have won a few contests, so I think that would look good on my application.

p.s. So, for now on, I should save practically everything I do?

Thank you all~

Good Lord. You are only 12? Ok, being well rounded is always great for good universities, but also, if you really focus on one area and shine in that, they are very impressed with your dedication. To work at Hollister or Abercombie they prefer you to be 18. Instead go work at a restaurant being a hostess. Save all the awards your earn and make sure your academics stay very strong, especially once you get to high school. But, remember you are only 12! That puts you in what, 7th grade? Enjoy your childhood while you can, soon enough you will have plenty more to worry about.
