Main entry marquee

Directly over the main entrance to the stadium stands the most familiar icon of the exterior of the ballpark, a large red, art deco style marquee, painted in white letters to read “Welcome to Wrigley Field, Home of Chicago Cubs”. The marquee has been in place since the stadium changed its name in the mid 1920’s, and was first placed with announcements on upcoming games using an old-fashioned theater marquee design, with letters being replaced with a suction cup on a long pole.
