I live in California and have always wanted to work on movies. I was about to go to school to become a special effects artists but did not have the money. I really want to direct though. I have two ideas that I think can be worked with and turned into something good but is it even realistic for a “nobody” so to say to pitch an idea to someone? How do I get noticed? Lol do I need to write a book or somthing?

You need to write a script. Then, approach someone involved in the film industry (such as a producer or director), or a studio. A studio would be easier, as they are the ones with the money. Be sure it’s good, or you won’t be “noticed”.
