As a production, “Lottery Ticket” is ably created. It opens with an extremely well-edited sequence and very cool soundtrack that intends, and succeeds, in setting up the story. There are other times throughout the film that are entertaining to the eyes and ears, particularly where music is involved. It is obvious the filmmakers wanted the camera work, angles and movements, to be a part of the movie as well. For the most part, they have succeeded.

Had playing it over the top, like Mike Epps’ Reverend Taylor, been the route that White had taken, it could have worked. Had he chosen instead to have his actors play it more “straight,” as a comedy/drama, that could have worked, too. As long as they were all on the same page. Stuck in a limbo between the two, “Lottery Ticket” is an at times mildly entertaining piece
