Lastest What Goes Into Making A Movie News

“It’s A Major Award!”
what goes into making a movie

Well, that’s what Ralphie’s father exclaimed upon receiving his lamp shaped like a woman’s leg in the classic holiday movie, "A Christmas Story."

Eh…..what can I say.

When I first joined this site, I didn’t care much for writing in-depth commentary to my photos. I wanted the images to stand on their own. Go take a look at the first dozen or so and you’ll see what I mean. Then, for whatever reason, I started putting prose and poetry and my neurotic machinations out there for all the world to experience, and you fine Flickr folk began to take notice. Well, I suppose it was that and the 97 testimonials I’ve written! Anyway, I never expected to be praised for my ability to match image to word. It just seemed like a good idea. I often wonder if I’d be so "popular" here if I did just post a shot with a one-line caption, if I didn’t spill my guts at times or put so much effort into making every upload "perfect." I don’t know.

Well, I suppose an acceptance speech is in order…..it being an award and all.

I thank the Higher Powers for their inspiration, my parents for their tolerance and love, Jolene for her belief in my abilities and vision, and all of you here for your encouragement and support. I also want to thank the States of New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky for being such great subjects; my anxieties, fears, and depression for urging me to pick up the camera and be something more than what they make me; and to my 1988 Mazda 626 junker that started me off on the road (literally) to internet-based photosharing on Fotolog.net when I was "Drive By Shooting." A very special mention must also go out to Mrs. Joanne Puleo, my Commercial Art/Photography teacher in high school. You convinced me that the camera is really a conduit between the worlds of beauty and imagination.

And yes, I actually came up with this design myself. When I was made aware of the whole awards thing, I contacted a few of the Admins and suggested people get something tangible to show for the votes, instead of just a mention in a group. So, everyone that is a "winner" will get a personalized image like the one above to add to their very own photostream. Mind you, I’m not one for tooting my own horn, but what the hell. Every little triumph, no matter how small, is a good one. Honestly though, in my opinion, each person here deserves recognition in their own right. I am constantly amazed at the talent and passion and creativity that exists on this site. I sit in awe sometimes and shake my head. You people do indeed rock my socks.

Well, enjoy your weekend, kids. Play safe.
