Addendum: Zeitgeist the movie. We recently watched Zeitgesit the movie, which is a conspiracy theory film that raises questions about Christianity, 9/11, and the New World Order. My initial reaction to the film was to sense a scientolgyesche nature. Out of curiosty, i read up on"Zeitgeist the movement". The FAQ proposes an alternative futuristic society where computers use Artificial Intellegence to make decisions for humanity:

"Computers and artificial intelligence will serve as catalysts for
change. They will establish scientific scales of performance. It is doubtful
that in the latter part of the twenty-first century people will play any
significant role in decision-making. Eventually, the installation of AI and
machine decision-making will manage all resources serving the common good."

Um, that sounds a lot like science fiction 😀 . At the time, the wikipedia article on Scientology linked to the Zeigeist film in a section that lists the "positives" of Scientology. The statement was that government is the real enemey, and scientology is able to fight against it.

Regardless of the scientologyesche undertone, the film does a good job of presenting conspiracy theory about the US in an emotionally impacting way (if you want something less emotional and more fact-based then read media monarchy). I’ll blog more about my thoughts on conspiracy theory another day.
