Getting a new computer- tell me what specs/components I should get. And other things I should know?

Question by huvik: Getting a new computer- tell me what specs/components I should get. And other things I should know?
(assuming I have the means to get whatever I want)

Someone who knows what they’re talking about.
Tell me EVERYTHING, pretend I know absolutely nothing. =]

The biggest deal is that I download A LOT of music. I p2p [LimeWire] songs, and torrent albums and big collections. I want it to be fast, and need the space.
I also torrent movies. Since I don’t plan on keeping all the movies for forever or even a long period of time, I guess my only thing is that I want great quality/etc.
I use big photo editing and movie making software also, but don’t typically play games.
I am on the computer for long long periods of time, and do keep it on to continue downloading the torrents while I sleep.

I’m not a pro user at all, and Windows works fine for me.

– Also, how will I downgrade from Vista back to XP? Is this available on Windows’ site or something?

– Is there anything else that I need to think about?
Also, if anyone has a clue –

My computer speakers make a “fuzzy noise” when my cell phone does pretty much anything (calling, sending/recieving texts, switching from 3G to E networks, etc).
I heard that this “is the nature of GSM phones” and about the frequency, or whatever.
My guitar amp has also made that noise when my phone is near it!

Are there any differences in speaker systems? Any specifics “types” that it won’t happen with?

Someone said once that the “wires aren’t properly shielded”, but….

My current monitor has really really crappy speakers built in- for about a month I unplugged my real speakers and used my monitor’s – and it didn’t make that noise at all.
Again about the speakers/phone issue –

I know that it’s my phone’s fault, but is there anything specific that I could do to prevent it (besides get a new different’ kind of phone….)?

I heard more about it – someone said it’s due to EMI radiation.

The only thing most people are saying to do is shield my speakers/the wires? What??

Well if you really want to get your dollars with customize a PC online at HP.com These are the following things you should have.

AMD Live 6000+ 2.6 or 2.8 ghz
Or Intel Quadcore 2.4ghz
built in NVIDIA graphics 8800 series
(If not big on graphics get a decent NVIDIA 6150SE
which still works wonders on games)
a 400GB-500GB SATA hardrive
Dual Layer DVD CD R/RW works
Speakers Bose Companion 2 Series( They are the best) 100 dollars only for true base and you can vibrate the floor without a subwoofer because it has mini woofers in the back.
Canon MP830 printer
Probably Vista Ultimate because I believe that handles torrents.
Realtek HD audio sound card
Get the latest wireless n card at linksys or netgear no one else!
If you want to make things interesting you can dual boot the computer so you have xp and vista on it.
sometimes they give you the option of just installing XP Pro.
Call Hp for those details

That will probably bring you around 1600 dollars but well worth it.
