why so much make up on corpses?

Question by jst4law: why so much make up on corpses?
know this sound s a little weird but why do they put tons of make-up on the dead. a very very dear friend of mine died on x-mas eve of 2008 (VERY RECENTLY) and even though i been to a couple of viewing i never really went to the casket…(long story) but after jordan died i went up and just wanted to see this dear man one last time. well when i went up there it wasn’t jordan in there, instead it looked like a wax dummy. he was only 23 and he wasn’t sick. his cause Of death was he shot his self in the chest…so there really wasn’t a mess to his face but here i was looking at this man who was usually very light skinned and now he had so much foundation he almost looked hispanic. now i understand that death takes a toll on a body but does it really require that much makeup? i know this is a strange thing to ask but i cant get how he looked out of my head. its bad enough dealing with his death and wondering why he felt he had to leave us (no indication he was depressed) but now i have this vision of him and laying in that damn box looking like something that came out of a horror movie…god i miss him. thank you for reading
actually NO i never have seen someone that has been dead
no i havent seen someone that has been dead for awhile (sorry that sent before i finished) so i dont know how they look nor do i want to know 🙁
