Question by sg-7: Why are some people so stubborn with their opinions when it comes to movies?
I’ve seen lists around where the public or critics vote for which movies they consider the greatest. I’ve even been to forums such as those on IMDb. But everytime a particular movie is rated very highly (especially an entertaining one) a bunch of charlatins (they seem like experts) come onto message boards and force their opinions onto the fans of that movie that it doesn’t deserve to be there. They make it seem like their opinion is right and insult not only the film but the people who actually like it. They even present themselves as intelligently as possible to get people to listen to them, but in the end their message is the same. They’re really saying the movie sucks but in a kind way.

Maybe it is because they want to save the public from their continued ignorance.

Lord of the Rings is a fun, entertaining trilogy but no one with any taste would say that they are the greatest movies of all time. I don’t mind if someone says it is their FAVORITE but don’t dare put it on a top ten list.
