Whats a good replacement for Windows Movie Maker?

Question by Brandon R: Whats a good replacement for Windows Movie Maker?
Hello, I make videos and I publish them to Youtube. I use Windows Movie Maker (WMM) for this, So far it gets the job done, but I want to have cool opening scene effects like a logo or something that is an animation rather then a plain picture that says my brand, Im just looking for a new movie making software that isnt some 800$ software like Adobe Premiere. I want an Imac for christmas becasue Macs are good with video editing and they have Imovie. If you have any good software that is free or realitively cheap, let me know.

You might like to take a look at Videospin (http://www.videospin.com)

It is free to download and use. You can purchase extra video codecs down the track if you feel you will need them. You can do some cool title effects with this software, and it can upload directly to Youtube.

Otherwise, Sony Movie Studio is a great choice and is relatively cheap ($ 55). You can download a free 30 day trial from there site:

It offers a lot more flexibility when it comes to producing great looking videos.

If you are getting a Mac for xmas, you might prefer to wait a couple of months. You can use imovie to get you started, or you might consider getting Final Cut Express which costs around $ 200. It is a fantastic software to use, and I have been using it the past couple of years almost everyday for all my editing work.

best of luck with your video editing 🙂
