Start college all over again just because my previous courses won’t transfer? Movie industry…?

Question by Jazz on the Rocks: Start college all over again just because my previous courses won’t transfer? Movie industry…?
I’m 19, and I have an Associate of Arts in Screenwriting (Film, TV & Digital Media) from a technical college in Australia. But I’m planning to make a career in the States. I don’t think it’ll transfer anywhere (I haven’t tried USC or UCLA though). I am now waiting for a response from the Academy of Art in San Fran. I don’t know how big of a chance I’d get if I jump straight into the industry by optioning my scripts or entering them in festivals (especially I’m not an American citizen) so I figured I need to network with as many people as I can, and college seems to be the perfect place, as far as I can think. Just in case I have no chance of a transfer, should I start all over again??? I need a green card & have been adviced that studying in the States for at least 2 years will increase my chance of scoring a work visa/green card. My fallback plans include singing (which I’ve been doing ever since high school) + working in magazines or advertising companies.
Oh, I have relatives living over there but I don’t think asking them to sponsor me just so I could get a green card is fair enough.
I’m not saying I want to hit it big because I only want to secure a green card after all, ’cause I’m trying to escape a painful past. That’s why I’m hoping I could leave.. I was born in Indonesia btw.
