This video displays some gameplay from Scriptless – a 3D animation video game sample I created as a final year project for my course in Multimedia and Computer Games Development. The game expands upon a technique used by Riemer Grootjan to create a game world using textured quads. The tutorial can be found here: www.riemers.net All models in the game were created by me using the 3D modelling software Blender, with the exeption of the avatar and the garden fence – both of which are samples. A tutorial on modelling for XNA using Blender can be found here: www.stromcode.com It is important to take into account that the version of Blender being used makes a difference to how the instructions should be followed. The game makes use of Microsoft’s Game State Management Sample. The sample contains a menu system and allows screens to be loaded and dumped at runtime. The sample can be found here: create.msdn.com The animated avatar is a sample provided by Microsoft. Had time permitted, I would have created my own in Blender. The sample can be found here:create.msdn.com Implementing the model into the game proved difficult. My questions (which were fully answered thanks to the members of apphub) to the forum can be found here: forums.create.msdn.com – hopefully it helps. There are many other users who experienced some difficulty with the animated model as I don’t think it was Microsoft’s intention that the model would be incorporated into existing games. I hope to develop the game
