Q&A: Sony DCRDVD105: conversion to computer?

Question by Irissa: Sony DCRDVD105: conversion to computer?
I got a Sony DCRDVD105 camcorder for Christmas, and the main reason I wanted one was to use on the computer on editing software to make movies and such. I cannot, for the life of me, find out how to move these files to the computer. Ripping, simple “drag-and-drop,” none of these will work for the videos-only the pictures. They’re .IFO files, and online it says I can only convert by buying a $ 60 conversion software. If anyone has any other cheaper way, please help. Thanks.

They should be VOB files and there is software that can convert them or possibly you can.

Drag and drop a VOB file to your hard drive and see if you can import that into Windows Movie Maker.

If not, try changing the file extension from VOB to mpg and then see if it imports.

If you can’t do these kinds of things, you need software, even paid software.
