Well for one, this is a true story. The guy who wrote this movie grew up on Long Island and worked at the Adventureland theme park in the 1980’s. That’s why you don’t see cell phones.

I loved this movie for two reasons. 1. It was just a good movie, good acting, good plots, funny scenes. and 2. I worked at Adventureland for 8 years and I can tell you right now, every single thing that went on in that movie was dead on and accurate.

Oh yes. When I worked there, there was a ride operator who was in her early twenties who was hooking up with the assistant manager (Ryan Reynold’s type character) and he was engaged (to the owner of the park’s neice!!!!! no less!!) and everyone found out.

Second, as for the drinking done by the games operators, I don’t know about that as I was a ride / food person, but I know that if you worked in the restaurant and you weren’t a sissy, you sometimes mixed hard liquor into the fountain drinks. So we’d all walk around sipping “iced tea” or “cokes” spiked with alcohol.

I probably shouldn’t say anymore HAHAH.

There are a lot of Adventurelands across the nation. This movie is specifically about the one on Long Island. The only thing I hated, is how they didn’t even film it AT the actual park. That’s the only big disappointment I had with that film, because Aland doesn’t even have a major coaster like the one they showed. It’s a relatively small park and I think the park could have created a lot of publicity by having the movie shot there.

They did however do a REALLY good job portraying the inside of the park the way it really does look on Long Island.

And they say no one ever wins the giant as$ panda!!! (link below)
