The Sony CCD-TRV215 is a miniDV tape based camcorder.

ALL miniDV tape based camcorders have a DV port that connects to your computer’s firewire port with a firewire cable. USB will not transfer DV-format video even if you *could* get it to work. For the most part, USB won’t work. USB-firewire converter/adapter/hub/cable things won’t work. If your computer does not have a firewire port, then hopefully it has an available expansion slot so you can add one.

Once connected with a 4-pin (camcorder’s DV port) to the computer’s firewire port, and the camcorder in “Play” or “VCR” mode, MovieMaker should be able to capture the video. WinDV (free download/use) can also import the video for MovieMaker to edit.
