Q&A: Do you think that movie theaters will be around in the future?

Question by djf20051: Do you think that movie theaters will be around in the future?
I don’t believe that movie theaters will be around in the future. With the growing number of home theaters and digital media, I think that movie theaters will be obsolete. I think that new movies will go directly to pay per view. The movie industry would make more money this way. Think about it, it costs a lot to go to the movies now, around here it’s about $ 10. Now if a family of 4 goes that’s $ 40 the movie theater makes. But does that mean that the movie industry makes more than they would if they sold it on pay per view for $ 5 or $ 6? I don’t think so. This is because the movie theater has operating costs such as employees, and electricity and the costs of their building. A lot of the money made at movie theaters comes from food and drink, which doesn’t make the movie industry any more money. Payperview would appeal to a wider audience because nearly everyone could get it for a cheaper price, yet the industry would make more from the added customers and lower expenses. Opinions?
