well ive been researching and ive see that for filmmaking people recommend any miniDV cameras. so my question is what camera do you recommend for someone who is just getting started but still wants the “movie” to have good quality that has a place to plug in a mic. so i dont have to rely on the crappy buily in mics. and another question is, just what wires or inputs or outputs do i need to be able to transfer the data from a miniDV camera (or whatever camera you recommend) to my computer for editing

Look for one of the Panasonic 3CCD camcorders with a microphone line in. You want 3CCD for the image quality. As you’ve already noted, you want the microphone line in for audio quality. Panasonic is currently the only company making 3CCD camcorders at consumer level prices. For more on deciding which camera is right for your needs see this article:
