on a home stereo system, is it safe to bridge a front and rear channel to one speaker to increase the output?

Question by Chris: on a home stereo system, is it safe to bridge a front and rear channel to one speaker to increase the output?
I have a Yamaha RX-V850 home theater amp. im running 2 Klipsch RS-42 speakers (max input 75W, imp of 8 ohms) in the front channels and a cheap subwoofer (2x10in- 2 different channels are needed, no specs on back of subs) that came out of my car. My problem: Im not getting enough power to the subs and I think I can bridge 2 channels together to get more power to my subs

my amps specs are…
Front Channels (4 channels total): 80W+80W (8 ohms) RMS output power
Center Channels (2): 80W (8 ohms) RMS output power
Rear Channels (2): 25W+25W (8 ohms) RMS output power

My first solution was to hook up my subs to my center channel, but my amp turns off my center channel when I have it on music listening settings on the digital sound field processor (concert hall, mono movie, rock concert, and concert hall) and the center channel is turned on when the DSFP is set on pro logic and enhanced (dolby movie settings)- however, the sound quality is horrible on pro logic and enhanced compared to the concert hall settings.

would if be safe to bridge an extra front channel and rear channel to one sub and the last front and rear channel to the other sub to get more power and keep my sound quality? or will I blow my amp?

lastly- does this make sense to you or do I need to re-word this question so if makes sense?

the manual to the amp is here if you need more info- http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/av/english/re/RX-V850.pdf

Thanks!
Chris

First off you can not use a car speaker for home audio. Car audio are designed for small place and operate in direct current while home audio in alternating current. Also car audio in 4 ohm load and home in 8 ohm, you can burn out your home system using a car system and same if you use home audio for car audio. Most receivers does not provide you a bridging capability, only power amps (stand alone power amp for home) can no do, while car amplifier can be bridge. Hope this will help you out.
