You can use “Chroma Key” or Green screen to replace backgrounds. Some older analog video cameras allow you to do this as an in camera “Chroma Key” effect where you can select a particular color to replace. Many video editing prorams now allow you to do this as a post production technique.

Green screen then requires that your subjects be flmed in front of a green (or blue) colored background. The software then replaces the green colocr with that of another image (or video).

Using a fixed background image means that the perspective of the background is fixed (not moving). Having a fixed background means that you also need to fix the perspective of the foreground. All this is a fancy way of saying that you need to use a trpod when filming your subjects. (Lock down the camera) Any movement of the camera filming the subject will be extreamly noticable in the final effect shot.

Hollwood can use moving background images and moving camera perspectives because they use expensive motion tracking systems wich account for the motions of the background image with respect to other camer movements.
