Question by Mistee F: Is there any way that I can find out about scripts for upcoming movies?
I want to be an actress (if not a ME) and I was wanting to find scripts for upcoming horror and suspense movies so I could send in my audition. Would it be okay to send in part of a script from another movie that is similar to the movie im auditioning for?

No. That is not the way the industry works. There is a chain of events that result in an actor getting an audition for a role in a movie about to be filmed. Assuming you are in the United States here is a rough outline of how it does work.

First a script is developed by a producer or set of producers. They will then hire a casting office or director who will break the script down and put the notices on Breakdown Services. Agents and managers who subscribe to this service will then submit their clients for various roles in that script. The casting director will in turn pick and choose who they’ll bring in for auditions. From their the numbers get whittled down until everyone is more or less happy with the actors they have for whatever roles are in the film.

The vast majority of films you see in theaters are SAG Union films. So if you’re a not a member of the Screen Actors Guild, you are not eligible to be hired or work on a film. Joining SAG or earning your way into SAG is a process in and of itself.

So if you want to be an actress, take the first step and learn the craft, join your schools theater department or the local community theater.
