Is it possible to give everyday objects that movie 3D effect, or depth perception?

Question by thecommonground: Is it possible to give everyday objects that movie 3D effect, or depth perception?
Odd question, I know. But, I was wondering if the technology used to create 3D for movies could be applied to everyday objects, or the kind of depth perception one experiences with movie 3D? For example, lamp and table painted certain colors as if to make the lamp appear one could reach out and touch it although it may be several feet away. Not sure if anyone will understand what I’m trying to say, but thought I’d try! Thanks

It can be, if you paint it like the camera see’s it with the double lines and you had 3D glasses to view it. 3D is usually shot or filmed using 2 camera’s set at different angles. Example below.
