In sony vegas movie studio 9, how do you edit video and audio separately?

Question by black_fimo: In sony vegas movie studio 9, how do you edit video and audio separately?
this is coming from a complete novice and is probably a very obvious question but i am looking to make a L-cut (where you hear the audio before seeing the source) How do you delete the section of the video without deleting the audio that goes with it?

You need to place the clip onto the timeline either by audio alone or video alone first before you go into editing, deleting, or clipping.

Before you place your clips onto the timeline, in the Project Media tab, right-click on your choice of clip you want, choose Open in Trimmer. You’ll see the clip images and the audio wavelength thing. Click, drag/highlight what parts you want. Right-click again, and choose Select Audio (or video) Only.

Hope this wasn’t confusing.
