I need help thinking of an idea for a movie?

Question by krusty krab pizza: I need help thinking of an idea for a movie?
First off, I’m 15 (so I don’t have access to awesome effects and such) and I love doing photography and making movies/films.
I’m a really independent person and I like doing things on my own time and my own way.. (not greedy, I just work better alone) but I’m really stuck on an idea for a movie.
I really want to make one but most of my friends are camera-shy so they won’t do it with me.
Help me? Please 🙂

All the ideas you will ever need are already right inside of your head. All you have to do is pick a universal subject. By that I mean a subject that most people are usually interested in.
Subjects like, overcoming great odds in life, war, exploring unknown areas (like space or the polar caps, or the jungle, or caves) maybe subjects like high-school life, love, hate or racism, poverty, success, cooking, could be anything that most people are interested in. Things like that. But it has to be something you are passionately interested in yourself. That’s really important, that you be passionate about your subject.
Then when you’ve picked a subject you have to decide exactly what it is that you believe about that subject.
Say for example you are really passionate about sled dog racing. Take your passion about sled dog racing and decide what you believe about sled dog racing. Maybe you believe that sled dog racing is the ultimate demonstration of how people and animals can work together to accomplish a goal.
Or, maybe you believe that sled dog racing is abusive to animals and should be banned. Or maybe you believe that dog sled teams can go places that motorized vehicles can’t and that they can save lives. (True story about a sled team taking medicine to an Eskimo village)
So now you take your subject: Sled-dog racing. Add your belief that sled-dog racing is the ultimate example of how humans and animals can work together. Then you add some conflict: Human and dog against the elements, or maybe human and dog against other humans and dogs. So there you go, you have a story idea. As you work on your idea more and more ideas for the story will come to you. But you have to prime the pump so to speak by starting. You can’t wait until you have the whole idea in your head. If you start you will find your way through the story to the end. Trust yourself. You have an unlimited supply of story ideas right within you. Look there by asking yourself what you believe about a subject important to you.

As far as getting a cast for your movie try joining your school’s or community’s theatre group. You don’t have to be a cast member and act to join you can work on another aspect of production. Even though some of us do work better alone (I do too) we still have to learn that other people have valuable things to offer and that we need to give a little to get a little.
So try a local theatre or film group. That will put you in touch with people who have the same general interest as you.
I’d wish you good luck but luck has nothing to do with it, perseverance and passion will take you farther than luck.
