How can I copy videos from my Sony handycam DCR-HC45?

Question by Tyrmyk: How can I copy videos from my Sony handycam DCR-HC45?
Hi all!
I have USB 2.0 and 1394 ports.
So I tried to download videos using Windows Movie Maker and USB connection – the quality was awful (settings: 640×480, 25 fps, recommended for PC).
I also tried the software that comes with the camcorder – Picture Motion Browser. Unfortunatelly I couldn’t make it recognise the cam. through i.Link.

Please give me ideas to solve my problem!

I hope that the PC is good enough: AMd Athlon 1800+, 640 MB RAM, 120 GB HDD, GeForce256 32MB RAM, WIn XP Pro, USB 2.0, Firewire…

Thanks!

again, rather than telling us the model, tell us the ‘type’: mini-dv, mini-dvd, digital-8, etc. Use your firewire port to capture, you’ll get less dropped frames. Are you filming in LP (long play) or SP (standard play)? The quality is reduced with LP. Try recording using the dv-avi option and compare quality to the recommended method.
