Having a baby at 40 and up? Movie stars make it sound so easy, is it?

Question by Jovi: Having a baby at 40 and up? Movie stars make it sound so easy, is it?
I’m pushing 40 and no where near to the point where I’ll be having a baby soon even though I really want to. I do have a bf but not quite there yet. I’m pretty traditional and would like to be married before starting a family. Anyway I know time is running out for me. But then I hear about all these movie stars over 40 who are having babies and their babies are healthy and everyone is happy. They make it sound so easy. I know there are many risks with having a baby after 40, especially down syndrome or other issues. A friend of mine had a baby at 40 and the baby had severe brain damage and died. Another ended up miscarrying and now can’t get pregnant again. Very sad. A part of me wants to give up on the fact that I’ll every have a baby, and another doesn’t want to give up hope. It doesn’t help that my bf’s younger brother just got married to a 28 year old and his family is saying things like-Oh well she is really young, she’ll be able to have a lot of children and then look straight at as if saying but you can’t. It does hurt. If I were to get married it probably wouldn’t be for at least another year or so. I’ll be 40 by then. I’d love to hear stories of women who’ve had babies over 40.
BTW, the reason I’m almost 40 and not married is that up until now the right guy just never came along. Dated lots of trolls and hopefully I’ve found the right guy.

I am 23 years old, my mom’s first child, she had her 2nd child when I was 21, she was about to turn 43 in a month when she gave birth to a healthy baby girl. No problems whatsoever, she also got pregnant naturally, no help from doctors or anything.
