**WATCH IN HIGH QUALITY!** 2/18/09: This very well may have been the last of the “classic” 10N’s to ever run over the Alleghenies on the Pittsburgh Line’s West Slope. From this day forward, the monster consist was seemingly moved to the 18G overnight, giving the 10N only a pair of big GE’s or EMD’s to do the job on the headend, minus any helpers that we’re added for the mountain assist. But the onslaught didn’t end there. On May 1st, 2009, the 10N ceased to exist as a result of the economy, and was folded into the 16E, which with the 10N traffic now runs from Elkhart, IN to Allentown, PA, and overflow traffic being moved into the M8G extra from Conway, PA to Allentown, PA, which now runs about 3 times a week. Although the 10N was much more profitable and BIGGER than the 16E, the 10N was the train that took the hit, and from that day on, the symbol “10N” would no longer be heard broadcasted over the much-loved ex CR road channel 1, channel 160.800. BUT! This is not a video to mourn the loss of what was possibly the best eastbound train to run the Pittsburgh Line. This is a video to celebrate 10N in its spitting image, and for the 10N to be remembered and never forgotten. Helpers ahead and behind, 5+ road units, and still BARELY making the grade and down on its knees? This IS the 10N, a train that will truly be missed forever.
