Does anyone know of a FREEWARE program that can capture a still from a movie?

Question by Clinton P. Keen: Does anyone know of a FREEWARE program that can capture a still from a movie?
I used to have a program that did this, but it had a watermark on the 30 day trial version and I didn’t feel like paying for something I knew I could get for free. Just to be clear I don’t want to capture video from my computer or make a video of my mouse moving around or anything like that. What I want is something that is FREE that will take snapshots of what is playing on winamp. Don’t tell me just hit print scrn as that will not register anything but a black box where the movie was playing. I have taken a still of the sort before so also do not answer me that this can not be done. I have a still I took from an episode of Freakazoid! I can send you.

VLC media player does it

http://www.videolan.org/

Just hit Ctrl+Alt+S

You also might want to specify the “video snapshot” directory, prefix, and format in Settings > Video

This also happens to be the best video player in existence, and yes, it’s Free…
