Did Disney mess up with the release of the Mighty Ducks trilogy?

Question by : Did Disney mess up with the release of the Mighty Ducks trilogy?
This is a near perfect movie trilogy except it has one major flaw. In the third installment only one player makes the varsity team (Cake Eater) despite the fact that these kids just represented the USA in a global competition (Jr. Goodwill Games). Wouldn’t it have made more sense to use the plot line from the third movie in D2: The Mighty Ducks? The third movie could have been the global tournament. I feel like Disney really dropped the ball here and its a real shame. What are your thoughts?

D2 was an international tournament
this movie was more about them moving on and growing up from Jr. High to a prep school ..
it was just a story line and all of them was on the Jr. team and they needed some way to have more involvment of the so called Elite of the school..
