I’m the developer of the freeware FS add-on “FS Recorder”, which allows to record and replay flights inside FS2004 and FSX (by recording flight data, not videos). Currently I’m experimenting with a possible new feature, which would allow to render perfectly smooth videos from recorded flights. This video shows the result of rendering a video in full HD resolution with 30fps. Unlike with live capturing of the screen, which does not give a smooth video if the system is not fast enough, the video is not recorded in real time. Instead the FS frame timing is manipulated to match the frame rate of the output video file, so FS is no longer running as a real time simulation, but more like a 3D rendering application. This allows to record perfectly smooth high resolution videos, even if the system is not fast enough to do it in real time. The downside is, that FS sound cannot be recorded with the video (due to the different speed). If everything goes well, this feature will become available in one of the next versions of FS Recorder.
