Question by Lou: Can you help me find the name of this movie?
All I can remember is this guy is first he is in a prison and some people hook him up with a boat to escape but the guy betrays him. Then later on he is ends up in some type of prison where it is complete darkness and he has to kill and eat rats. Then he gets out and ends up on some shoreline and some locals come up and make friends with him. The locals give him a tattoo and leave while he is sleeping. In the end of the movie he is on an island which is some type of prison with some of his old pals. His pale tries to convince him to stay but he leaves anyways. He counts the waves to find which way the current goes then he throws over some flotation devise and escapes.

I’m not completely positive which movie you’re talking about but it sounds a little like
the count of monte cristo
