Berlin Film Festival focuses on Iran
Iranian director Jafar Panahi, sentenced to prison and banned on working in film, is paid tribute by his fellow filmmakers at the Berlin festival. As the Berlin International Film Festival kicked off last week, the upheaval in Egypt was on everyone’s lips here in the German capital. But it was the bitter aftermath of Iran’s 2009 populist uprising that truly infused this year’s Berlinale.
