Are you afraid of Disney…?

Question by howldine: Are you afraid of Disney…?
For all you dog owners out there- are you afraid that Disney and other ‘family-oriented’ companies are going to make a movie featuring YOUR breed? What do you think will happen then? I am thinking of the Dalmatian and Cocker Spaniel hysteria following the releases of 101 D’s and Lady and the Tramp. Or the Husky craze after 8 Below. To breeders: Are you delighted or infuriated at the craze to get a dog after a movie makes it popular? And what happens if the latest movie features a ‘hybrid’ or ‘designer’ dog? What if the new must-have dog is actually a mutt? Do you think that even MORE backyard breeders will pop up to produce them? And shelter and rescue people- how do breed trends influence you? Do you see a remarkable rise in certain breeds dumped off at the pounds or surrendered to rescue?

Whether you’re an owner, a breeder, or a rescue worker, I want to hear from you. Your concerns are appreciated!

Thanks!
EDIT: Duck D- LOL- I have a Brittany/Lab mix. But good point- nobody ever bleeds in a Disney flick.
Carrie- That and the “daydream” Lotto commercial where the woman is walking a ‘puggle’ down the sidewalk while “daydreaming”… Makes me shudder!
Abby- A Papillion as a Poodle? Sheesh- people are dumb…
Basset- I thought the only ‘hound dogs’ in that movie were all the horny guys falling all over Jessica Simpson. Personally, I don’t see the attraction. I think she looks like a Great White Shark…but that’s another issue altogether…
Goldengal- Whaddya mean, golden retrievers AREN’T born knowing how to shoot fouls? Aw, Dammit!
Nandina- You sing it, sister. Right on!
Basset: Flash, of course! How could I have forgotten Flash….Well, I didn’t see the movie but did occasionally see the series- boy am I dating myself!
Chris- that would be awesome as long as all families were educated, qualified, and not doing it because the dog in the shelter was ‘cool’ for being in the movie/TV show…would this ever actually happen?
Dirty Mange Dog: You don’t read too well. I said I have a Lab/BRITT.
