Every 4th of July competitors test the limits of their stomachs and their gag reflexes by wolfing down as many hot dogs as they can in 10 minutes for a grand prize of ten thousand dollars. Could anything possibly be more American than that? Joey Chestnut set a world record in 2009 after putting away 68 hot dogs in ten minutes! That’s a hot dog every 9 seconds.
