You are entering the world of independent film making today, what camera do you get?

Question by Ryan: You are entering the world of independent film making today, what camera do you get?
I don’t care if it’s HD or standard, I want good colors, 24p (or the ability to slow the frame rate down in production without distortion, decent low light performance and a good price.

I’ve looked at the Sony FX1, but I’ve been told it’s really only ideal if I’m going to be doing weddings and church services. But I also know it has been used in tv and movies. So. Is going from 60i to 24p realistic?

I’m leaning towards the Panasonic AG-HVX100. I know it is standard def, but I know how impractical HD is unless I have the means of producing and showing on something a HD screen, I’m a freshman in college for god’s sake.

This gives you an idea of what price range I’m going for. I can get either of these cameras on ebay for around 1600.

But I’m one of the most indecisive people I know and I don’t know much about what I’m buying so that makes it a lot worse.

Professional opinion would be nice
