Why was he uncomfortable? I was wearing something nice and the Asian girl at the fast food complemented me.?

Question by so tired: Why was he uncomfortable? I was wearing something nice and the Asian girl at the fast food complemented me.?
We had been going there for lunch after church each Sunday for months. Wear we live, and at our church, people don’t dress up often. Well I had something nice on and the Asian girl complemented me. “Oh, that’s cute dress. Do you guys celebrate Easter?” before either one of us could breathe, he started going on and on about yes we do and we eat lunch here and blah, blah, I’ll have blah, blah, looking up only at the menu as he talked, not looking at either one of us. It was like he was jumping out in front of me, like in movie.., taking a bullet and yelling “Nooo!” I didn’t even get to say , “Well thank you. I bought it at..,”
At the table, he’s like “Oh, did I make you mad being Mr. Personality?”
I was more sad then anything.., making excuses for him in my head.
That and other stuff, I’m starting to think he’s a little weird. I mean geez, she was just being a decent/nice. He could have let a few words pass between us, or said, “Yeah, my wife has good taste.” It bugs me too because when we’ve been around people he knows, I have been treated poorly, and he was silent and invisible right next to me. So much, that I stopped seeing those people years ago. (I complained to him at him later, and nothing.)

Me getting a complement from the fast food worker?? Why did it freak him out???
Painting picture here. Should be clear, not his type or anything like that.
We were at Taco Bell, and all kinds of people work there, but she was there just about every Sunday we were. Almost like a family friend.
