Why do my burnt dvd’s freeze?

Question by Joe: Why do my burnt dvd’s freeze?
Hi, I’m trying to make some cartoon movies for my daughter so she can have something to watch in our vehicles and i thought i was successful but for some reason the dvds freeze and of skip for a second and it happens quite a lot though out the movie. I’m guessing im doing something wrong. I’m using a dell dimension with dvd-flick for encoding, imgburn to burn the dvd, and im using dvd+r discs from staples (i wanted to use dvd-r but my computer cant read them). Im wondering if my settings are wrong like the write speed or something (im pretty sure its set to 4x). also could it be dvd-flick or imgburn causing the problem? Is there better freeware i can use? If you can think of anything im doing wrong please let me know; im open to any suggestions. Thank you for your time.

The best DVD-R’s are Verbatim IMO.
Order some from Newegg and see if they work.
Or your burner could be faulty.
Test one in a friends burner and see if that works ok.
Or try a different encoder, or copy a .avi movie from the web and burn it straight to DVD. If that works then the burner should be ok.
Do you encode to a file first before burning or encode/burn in one pass, which may be less reliable.
