The alienware computer looks totally sexy and sleek, but the XPS is approximately $ 500 cheaper. I am really split between the two. Disregarding aesthetics, I am most concerned about the cost-performance tradeoff for the…

I am not one of those people who play WoW 12hrs a day, but I do want to be able to play modern games with relative ease and run Photoshop/movie editing and easily multitask/switch between virtualized OS’s quickly. Could someone please give a brief overview of the differences (what makes one aspect so much better?) and which computer would probably be best. Thanks!

The Alienware performs better, but seriously? If you just buy the parts yourself as well as get a i7-2600k plus a P67 motherboard, you can build a computer, save a lot of money, and will run A LOT faster… not to mention you could use the money you saved to buy another gpu if your motherboard supports it.

I didn’t notice at first you said just modern gaming, so those computers might just be overkill.
