What is the best Movie Making Software?

Question by what: What is the best Movie Making Software?
I want to make slideshows and burn them to a DVD, I have been using Windows Movie Maker and you can only download to the DV camera (which sucks badly). What is a good program that will allow me to make the slideshows and burn the to the DVD Burner installed in my computer and one that doesn’t cost ALOT of money?

Try something from Sony Media Software.
I use Vegas Professional 6, but I make films.
They also have home versions of their editing programs for around $ 60 (I think)
