What is the best movie making program to have on your home computer?

Question by blab: What is the best movie making program to have on your home computer?
I have a laptop with IMovie on it and it is really bad. Anyways, I’m not going to have a laptop next year, and I still want to make movies. My home computer is a Windows Vista and I checked and Windows Movie Maker doesn’t work with Vista. I need some recommendations.
