What do I have to do to major in Film?

Question by Michael S: What do I have to do to major in Film?
I am a freshman at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. However, I really love making movies. Either directing or editing. I feel like I would have a better chance at Film Editing. I have made many movies. I just go Sony Vegas and I am loving the amount of things I can do with it, and am in the process of making some really nice films.

But am I stuck in Madison? Is there any majors I could do here to prepare me for Film school if that is the only choice? Help..

I don’t know about the school you are going to but check to see if they offer a degree in Film or Digital Arts. If not check into the local community colleges there (they are basically the same thing as a university but a lot cheaper). If so, if you find a college that offers a degree in that then you would take your basic stuff (math, writing, and so on) and also you take your film classes (editing, screenwriting, just to name a few)
