Good film editing software doesn’t start under $ 50. However, if you’re willing to save a bit more, I suggest you get Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum at the $ 100 mark.

Personally, I use Adobe Premiere CS3 in conjunction with Adobe After Effects CS3. They retail at above the $ 1500 mark but then again, are professional-classed.
