Video editing software? What should I get?

Question by Blade: Video editing software? What should I get?
I’m looking for the best softwar to get for my needs. I enjoy making videos using windows movie player but it’s just so basic. There are little effects, small meaningless transistions, and its just not as advanced as I would like. I operate on windows vista and have plenty of memory. What programs provide some stunning effects, great editing features, and just all around good ratings? Suggest what ever you know of don’t bother with a price restriction but I would like both affordable and maybe some of the higher priced ones if you know any! Thanks So much!!
