Inland Empire
movie about making a movie

I have seen great movies and good movies as well as bad movies and really really horrible movies but never have I seen a movie like this. Before I get into talking about the movie I just want to talk about some personal observations I have made over the years.

In every spectrum of art whether it be painting or sculpting or photography or movie making there is usually a person, or several people that stand out from the rest because they do something everyone else doesn’t, they are different in their work and simply better in some peoples eyes. Whether it be a gift, a natural talent, I don’t know what to call it. But then among these greats you have people like David Lynch, who I believe strives so hard to be different, wants so badly to be different that his work is just plain ridiculous.

I was about an hour into this movie when I seriously considered turning it off and calling it quits. But I thought to myself, I really can’t give an honest opinion about this 3 hour movie based on just one hour. So I stuck with it. And really, I could have turned it off at that 1 hour mark and it would have made no difference. Actually, yes it would have, I may have thought more highly of the movie.

Inland Empire is nothing more than a cluster fucked collage of video with little or no meaning and whatever meaning it may have is seemingly pointless. The acting is awful, most of the dialog makes no sense, the camera work is even worse and the movie itself is just idiotic. I read that David Lynch filmed this with a standard handheld camera. Now some people may see this as WOW, what a genius, how revolutionary. I personally think it was more of a money issue than anything.

Someone said that in order to understand this movie it has to be viewed at least 5 times. I personally believe that the only thing to understand about this movie is that it’s not meant to be understood. But if in fact it must be watched at least 5 times to get it, then I personally would rather not get it because I barely got through watching it once. 4 more times?? Not worth my time.

I recommend this movie to anyone who realistically has nothing better and nothing more to do with their life and plans on commiting suicide in the near future.

I should also add that this is not one of the worst movies I have ever seen, this by far is the worst. I will never watch another movie recommended to me by the person who recommended this. 3 hours of my life wasted away on complete and utter crap. Recommending a bad movie is one thing, but something of this magnitude? A cruel joke.

Gadget gifts for road warriors
If you have people on your gift list who travel a lot, you may want to think about giving them something to keep them comfortable and entertained while on the go, even if they’re not as nomadic as George Clooney’s road-warrior character in the movie “Up in the Air.” We can’t do anything about delays, cramped seating, jetlag, traffic jams and noisy passengers, but these gadgets could make it …
