studying for film/movies?

ok so i want to go into film and like the making of movies. but i dont want to be the director or the camera person so what are some other jobs that goes into making a movie and what classes and things do i study in order to get there. and what does one have to study to be in a special effects person. any help would be great! or advice…

i assume by “special effects person” you mean editor. most film school either give you classes in all aspects of filmmaking or you choose one to focus strictly on. so if you want to cut the movie together and do special effects go into editing.

other jobs in filmmaking besides director and cinematographer are screenwriter (writes scripts), boom operator (holds boom mic), mixer (in charge of capturing sound), actor, gaffer (does lighting), script supervisor (in charge of making sure the director follows the script and there are no continuity issues), etc. there are tons and tons of jobs in the film industry and the only way to discover what you want to do is to try them out
