“Patrick Dempsey has acquired the rights to the prize-winning novel The Art of Racing in the Rain and will produce and star in the screen version. The film will go into production in 2010” – Wikipedia. Since Dempsey has been participating in auto racing for years and is co-owner of a few Indy/GT teams, we can probably assume that plenty of racing story is going to be shown.
I really liked this book!! However, since it’s mostly a narrative through the eyes of Enzo the dog, it might be sort of difficult to show well in a movie without it turning out cheesy. Plus Patrick Dempsey isn’t exactly known for his Oscar-winning movie performances.
Hopefully the movie will be as interesting and emotional as the novel!!! With the success of the novel and recent sucess of the movie Marley & Me, it could probably do well at the box-office too 🙂
