Quite honestly I’m disappointed with how this contest turned out. Not because of the quality of the submissions, but because the failure to understand and follow directions. My top choices ALL had copyrighted music. I apologize to those of you who at least attempted to follow directions and thought you were using copyright free music (but weren’t) because I know how much time goes into these submissions. I specifically provided a link to my guide I wrote about copyright issues but it’s obvious that a lot of people didn’t bother reading it. The thing that everyone needs to know is that just because a song isn’t flagged by YouTube or just because you saw someone else use it in a particular video does NOT mean it’s copyright free. Circumstances like these are what make me want to limit music to pre-selected lists like I’ve done in the past. I wanted to give freedom of choice for music but it’s obvious that next time I need to restrict it. Also, because I know a number of you might be butt-hurt or just plain assholes, I should note that me requiring copyright free music has nothing to do with my YouTube partnership and making money from my videos. I do it out of principle and have done so long before I was a Machinima Director or had a YouTube partnership. I apologize for my rude tone but like I said, I’m disappointed with this outcome as I’m sure many of you are as well.
