Q&A: Why does making a movie about the book Don Quijote de la Mancha always seem to fail in Hollywood?

Question by bearsfan96: Why does making a movie about the book Don Quijote de la Mancha always seem to fail in Hollywood?
Im doing a research paper on this topic, and any articles that would help would be nice. I know for a fact that several directors have attempted and failed to make the Cervantes novel of Don Quijote de La Mancha into a movie.

Not specifically sure about Don Quijote, but Hollywood movies that are adaptations from other cultures don’t usually do well i.e. Dragonball, etc., they lose significance as Hollywood strips it and replaces it with their own cliched stuff…fans get extremely angry when things aren’t faithful…
