Q&A: What are some areas in So. California that have like ruins & stuff? :)?

6 friends and myself are making a movie. And it’s going to look professional. We have an HD video camera, an underwater HD camcorder, a green screen, and high tech editing software. We are working on the script right now, but the story is supposed to be about 7 girls who get sent to an all girls academy, and weird things start to happen. The girls will find a bunch of maps and with those maps they have to go on quests and find items to put the puzzle together. We thought it would be cool to ACTUALLY go on the “set” of where the scene takes place instead of the green screen because it would seem more real, while with a green screen you REALLY have to use your imagination. If you live in California, do you know of any places where we might be able to shoot a few scenes? We want the place to be desert-like. And there should be rocks and maybe even ruins from the California/Mexico war. Also, if you know of any places where we can hike trails. I was researching a few places earlier, and I found a place that has a man made waterfall. (It’s not big, it’s pretty small for a waterfall.) We want to use our green screen as rarely as possible, because being at the site is much more realistic. For those of you who want to answer this, PLEASE give the name of the area. Thanks in advance! 🙂

Last year, I found the ruins of Fort Mohave. It’s in the desert. It was around during the time period you mentioned. It’s about 2 miles north of the Avi Casino, across the river on the Arizona side.
