My best advice is to go into a reputable camera shop and ask their advice. There are any number of cameras on the market for that kind of money, it really depends on what you want to achieve, and how.

You can also go onto Google and search there. In addition you should also have a good tripod and a quality pan and tilt head – something cheap will not necessarily do the job. Professionals use good sold tripods and fluid heads: Vinten, Sachler etc but if you go down that route you will be lucky to get just these two items for your $ 1600!!

If you want quality make sure your camcorder is HD (high definition). How are you going to edit the film? If you are thinking of using something like iMovies in Apple Macs then you need a camera with CCD sensors rather than CMOS as Mac’s built-in image stabiliser does not work well with CMOS.

There are many other questions to answer; as I said, try a good photo dealer – you can always get the advice there and then buy off the net, if you want to save money!!
